Melvin James Anderson, II, 85, of West Grove, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 23, 2010 surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Constance Snowden Anderson for 62 years.
Born in Chestertown, MD, he was the son of the late Melvin James Anderson, I, and Minnie Handy Anderson.
He attended Kennett Consolidated School. He retired from DNJ Cappelli after 24 years of truck driving. He also worked at Avon Grove School and Samuel Long Construction Company.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in Northern France in Rhineland and Ardennes in Central Europe.
He was a faithful member of the Enon Missionary Baptist Church in West Grove. He served as a Deacon, a Trustee and served as Supt. of Sunday School for 17 years.
He enjoyed people, and loved to lend a hand to help others in need, and always with a smile.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six daughters, Barbara Thomas Rochester, Sandra Simpson, Linda John Maxwell, Joanne Howard Hawkins, Carolyn Steve Bowman, Patricia Anderson; five sons, Raymond Joan Anderson, Richard Marveen Anderson, Kevin Gloria Anderson, Wayne Mary Anderson, Dennis Anderson; he also raised 4 grandchildren, James Anderson, Crystal Anderson, Shanise Bryant and D'Angelo Anderson; two sisters, Courtney Wilbur Milburn and Florence Harris; one sister-in-law, Freda Anderson; one brother-in-law, Norman Brevard;49 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; 49 great great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by four children and one granddaughter, Melvin, James, Debra, Denise and granddaughter, Sheila Simpson.
